Peeling Paint Repair in Hertfordshire, Essex and London
Sometimes when you have a knock or scrape on your car that breaks the paint work you might find that the lacquer or paint layers start to peel over time. This peeling process is generally caused by a previous car body repair that has not adhered properly to the cars surface. This peeling can gradually get worse the longer it is left and if using high pressure jet washes or the like will only speed up the process.
This type of damage can be tricky to fix for when you start to feather out the peeling paint work you have no idea how far back the paint will go before it stops peeling. Most of the time the area that ends up being sprayed is no more than twice its original size.
This type of damage can usually be found on areas that have been sprayed before and are prone to chipping like bonnets and bumpers. Even if other sections on cars have had work previously carried out on them they might not peel at all as long as there is no break in the paint or lacquer layer.
Peeling Paint Example
This bumper had been painted before, not too sure by whom but they hadn’t prepared the area properly before painting. As a result the paint couldn’t adhere properly to the plastic surface and after a few washes started to peel around the sharp angled sections.
Before we could paint the area we had to first take the paint back till all the peeling paint had been removed and properly prepare the surface area for paint.
The job was carried out at the customers work address in Ware Hertfordshire
